Technology Volunteer

This track is designed for people who currently or plan to work with technical or computer volunteers in their nonprofit organizations. The sessions are aimed to help nonprofits assess whether they need a volunteer, what kinds of projects are appropriate for volunteers and where to look for them.

CTC VISTA Project
Paul Hansen is Assistant Director of the CTC VISTA (Volunteers in
Service To America) Project at UMass/Boston College of Public and Community Service, which helps support the recruitment, placement, and support of AmeriCorps*VISTA members in community technology centers in metro Boston and across the country.

Paul is also an artist, designer, and web developer who provides technical
support and web development services to artists, community arts
organizations, and nonprofits in Boston.

Technology Infrastructure

This track is designed for people who want to learn basic strategies to use technology effectively in their nonprofit organizations. The sessions are aimed to help nonprofits build a strong foundation of technology resources and planning tools.

Raising Money Online
Avi Fichman is the Director of Nonprofit Services for Network for Good, a national nonprofit organization that connects individuals with their favorite charities. Avi is responsible for developing and continuously improving Network for Good's nonprofit services including providing free and low-cost tools for online engagement, fundraising and volunteer recruitment.

Avi brings a special understanding of the nonprofit community needs and operations as a former CFO/COO and Nonprofit Corporate Officer working with organizations of all sizes and levels of sophistication for 18 years. Avi has developed housing for the mentally ill, acted as a Development Director for various groups and provided strategic consultation on the development and deployment of technologies initiatives across social service agencies.

This track is designed for people who want to learn the latest innovations in nonprofit technology. The sessions are aimed to introduce cutting edge uses of technology that nonprofits can use to share their missions.

Using digital storytelling to share your mission
Victoria Deaton
is the President of Digital Storytelling, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Raleigh with clients stretching across the country. Victoria is co-founder of the Raleigh-based ExplorNet, where she also served as its Chief Operating Officer. She is the chief architect of ExplorNet's Digital Storytelling program and co-developed the Computer Recycling project.

Victoria was recognized by the Triangle Business Journal as one of the "Top 25 Women in Business for 2003." She also sits on the board of directors of the North Carolina Technology Students Association.
